Relive the amazing spirit and camaraderie of World War II and enjoy the various re-enactments, entertainment and vehicle displays along the line at Pickering,LeVisham, Goathland and Grosmont Stations.

Along the line of the heritage railway the clock will be turned back when Britain was in the thick of a world war. Each station will be transformed to create a variety of scenarios including child evacuees and a cinema showing films and newsreels from the period at Pickering, Home Guard demonstrations at Goathland, with music and dance entertainment at Grosmont. Levisham will once again be transformed into the German occupied Frenchvillage of LeVisham with re-enactment displays and Café Allée duBois. Wreath laying ceremonies at Pickering and Grosmont stations helped to underpin a serious message over the weekend.

Pickering Station will be recreating ‘The Sidings’ a wartime street which will include Joan’swartime hair salon, NAFFI and Sidings Inn, wartime traders and live entertainment including Paul Harper. We are also delighted to announce that Ampleforth College Big Band will be playing a repertoire of music from the 1930s and 1940s Sunday afternoon.
