High action cycling returns to the roads of Ryedale, North Yorkshire on Sunday 10th July when the British Cycling Ryedale Grand Prix series event comes to the district.

First promoted by British Cycling’s Yorkshire Region in 2005 the Ryedale Grand Prix has featured as the National Road Race Championship in 2005, 2008 and in 2012. For 2016 it returns as part of the the British Cycling Elite Road Series and will once again incorporate the Peter Longbottom Memorial in dedication to the Malton Olympian. Sharing the day will be the Women’s National Road Series.

Widely praised for the new Championship course and venue in 2012, the event will once again be played out on the circuit that passes through the magnificent grounds of Ampleforth Abbey. As with last year two circuits will feature albeit with a slight reduction in the length of first circuit to ensure that spectators gain maximum benefit from the Abbey vantage point.

Made in Ryedale, a new event for 2016 will highlight arts and food producers within the Ryedale area.  Running alongside Ryedale Grand Prix the festival also includes a drop-in art workshop and will be a fantastic day out for the whole family.
